Geek List

Me and Bailey have a few board games between us now with a few expansions. We have listed our games on boardgame geek.com which is a very good for information and help etc. I also watch a lot of Tom Vassel on the dicetower.com, I really like the top ten lists which comes across as three friends having a good time above all doing what they enjoy.

Battle Flag

Monday nights game was of battle flag. The game was based on a possible engagement at the start of WW1 were the British wanted to stop a German battleship from reaching Turkish waters. In the real event the British Admarial decided his four armoured cruisers were out matched and did not engage.
In tonight's game the Geman battleship turned to the right to avoid the British cruisers and keep them at extreme range. The battleship did some minor damage at range, but when the two fleets closed in the bigger German guns started to take their toll on the British. One cruiser got sunk by continued bombardment, number two got a critical hit and sunk. The German light cruiser ramed a cruiser to give some room. The third British cruiser got sunk from a good salvo. We called the game at this point with a German win. Three British cruisers sunk, one damaged and leaking. The German battleship was damaged but had not lost all it's hit points.
Maybe the British Admarial was right!

Close Race

Me and B had a game of Formula d the other night on the new track I got. One quick lap went quicker than expected so we had two more races on two different tracks, restarted each race on the grid but kept the damage from race to race. Played very well and no one got to far ahead/behind due to restarting on the grid. Nice veriant to play with low numbers of players to get some laps in. I managed the win but as you can see both cars were wrecked!!!!

Zombicide

Played Zombicide at MAWS on Monday. Played very well with three new players and me and Bailey only a few games in our selves. A few house rules to help with game play. We were doing very well to start with and got most of the objectives but as the game went on the zombies mounted up. Bailey pushed his luck and got eaten which started the fall. We all died to clear the route for Rob. Rob just needed to reach the last objective with his slippery character but the walkers card gave all runners an extra turn. Run forest!!! All now walkers!!!!

Thunderstone

Played our first game of Thunderstone last night. Took longer than expected, with a few rule errors which I checked up on this morning. Enjoyed the game and the theme was very good. Need a few more games yet.

A Very British Civil War

My unit histories for the local AVBCW units.

Anglican League

1938

The Navy camp at Rixton had to decide which side to support.

It’s close association with the village of Rixton-with-Glazebrook and especially the vicar of St.Helens Church, Hollins Green made the choice easy.

Using the manpower and eagerness of the training camp along with the support of the local farm workers soon bolstered their numbers.

As they were still in training the units are pretty green, but have plenty of pluck.

They are currently defending the line of the river Glaze against the Irlam Communists and the river Mersey against Thelwall Communists also.

To the north the threat from Culceth has arose now they have sided with the Albertine forces.

Currently exists an uneasy peace whilst more pressing matters (Communist) mean a joint venture, but clashes still exist, like when the Culceth Company raided the Rixton Navy Camp for supplies.

The church has well supplied the regiment with standard Anglican Army uniforms and equipment.

The northern border is the Liverpool – Manchester Railway.

Culceth had strong ties with Canada through local leaders and their relatives living out there.

When the time came it was easy to convince the local population that Prince Albert was their best option.

Initially, Canada and the Albertines sent a small training party to Culceth to train up the volunteers to a good military standard and also supplied a good few weapons.

The Culceth Company has expanded to incorporate both Croft and Glazebury, stopping at the East Lancs road to the north.

The area south was stopped at the Liverpool – Manchester railway due to the influence of the Anglican backed Rixton Regt.

Currently exists an uneasy peace whilst more pressing matters (Communist) mean a joint venture, but clashes still exist.

Recently the Culceth Company has had to launch a raid into Rixton territory to get supplies from the Rixton Navy camp. A large number of blue battle dress jackets were taken and have now been used as a standard uniform for the company.

A Very British Civil War!

Monday nights game was "A Very British Civil War" game that took us back to 1938 in another  universe.
Warrington was under attack from the Lymm BUF and Edwardian troops from Dunham Massey.
Thank God for the lads from Cadishead and Irlam.

The Factory was the main target for the Fascist, who shelled the roof off with mortars and even planted explosives but never set them off.

The chaps from Dunham captured some Thelwall socialist but  never got within 100 yards from the Factory.

The cops got three lots of civilians out of their farms and homes before taking a direct hit  from a mortar shell  killing all but the Inspector and one Pc.

Here we see the fish vans full of Thelwall communist driving into the action.
They arrived in the nick of time for the Trucks in the background belong to Hanoverian storm-troopers.
The Communist managed  to hold the Factory by the end of the night, the Fascist  lost a lot of men mostly to the bayonet after surrendering.
A very nasty Action from the Cadishead Red Butchers.
